Judson Garrett, MA serves as an Associate Director at the Center for Innovative Leadership based out of the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, where he advances the Center’s impact by translating leadership research into practical tools for today’s leaders. He leads the Center’s knowledge and learning agenda, shaping how research informs business education, thought leadership, and cross-sector engagement. Working closely with faculty, Judson connects rigorous scholarship to the real-world challenges leaders face, equipping them to navigate complexity in moments that matter.

After a decade as a K-12 History teacher, varsity coach, and department chair, Judson went on to lead several educational technology startups with an emphasis on dynamic teaming and human-centered design. Based on insights gained from these experiences, he developed and taught courses on creative problem solving, innovative leadership, and student success at Arizona State University, Grand Canyon University, Hartwick College, and Johns Hopkins University.

In addition to his leadership development and community engagement work, Judson is pursuing a Doctorate of Education at the Johns Hopkins School of Education. His research advances the understanding of leadership development as critical infrastructure for innovation in higher education and beyond, focusing on how entrepreneurial leadership practices can dismantle institutional silos, foster psychological safety, and unlock creativity within complex organizations. Judson holds a BA in Government & Public Policy from the University of Baltimore and an MA in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College.
